“These are the sea creatures I created in late 2016 for an international group show in Beijing, which took place in early 2017. I call them Gea Creatures—named after me, Gary, since my name starts with a 'G' and rhymes with 'sea.' Additionally, I hid a letter 'G' in each of the drawings. These creatures are energetic, unique, and sketchy, much like my own origins in Detroit. It was a wild two weeks spent in a cozy home, immersed in a fever dream fueled by cigarettes and Miller High Life in the Hispanic Southwest part of the city, not far from where Jack White grew up.” THE ARTIST has printed twenty (10) of each of these five, separate, fun, colourful creatures. Get ‘em while they’re cold.

The artist, Gary Holme, is creating silkscreens of his Leslieville Series in his home studio, and ink is getting everywhere. He drew the original artworks around Toronto in 2021 and is now printing them.
